Greatest hockey players of all time

It was the finest players in the NHL’s history who essentially changed it forever. Bobby Orr, Wayne Gretzky, and Gordie Howe are some of the hockey players that became iconic personalities in the sport because of their achievements.

It’s no surprise that most of the top 10 players are from the past since they were mostly photographed in black and white throughout their professional careers. Even though decades past still hold sway, one contemporary talent managed to make the cut.

Here are the greatest hockey players of all time and why they have the best careers in the most prominent hockey leagues in the world. This is why you should know the legends first before betting on the different crypto casino partnerships like Bitcasino partnerships.

Gordie Howe

In 1946, Gordie Howe made his NHL debut with the Detroit Red Wings. When the right winger’s 32-year career came to a close in 1980, it was with his two kids Marty and Mark.

Mr. Hockey played for the Detroit Red Wings for 25 years, collecting six MVP honours, six scoring titles, and four Stanley Cups. A goal, an assist, and a fight are all part of the ‘Gordie Howe Hat Trick’.

The six-year World Hockey Association (WHA) veteran finished his career with 41 points alongside Hartford Whalers. He also scored 1,809 of his 1,850 NHL points while playing with the Red Wings. In terms of total games played (1,767) and straight seasons with at least 20 goals, no one came close to him.

Wayne Gretzky

The Great One is without a doubt the greatest goal scorer in history. Throughout his career, he amassed 1,963 assists. He has the most assists of any player in history.

The only other player to score 160 points in a season was Mario Lemieux, who achieved the feat four times. Nine times, Gretzky reached a maximum of 215 points and broke the 200 mark four times.

In addition to four Stanley Cups, Gretzky won 18 All-Star selections, 10 Art Ross Trophies, and nine Hart Trophies throughout his career. In both the regular season and the playoffs, he has a slew of career highs for points, goals, and assists.

Bobby Orr

Bobby Orr, the first great offensive defender, is most known for his springing celebration in the 1970 Stanley Cup Finals.

To his credit, he was the first defender to ever hold league scoring supremacy throughout the 1969-1970 season. With another career-high 139 the next season, Orr moved back to the top place with 135 the following season.

Orr’s scoring prowess is just half of his glory. He won eight consecutive Norris Trophies as the league’s best defender. After being out for much of his playing time due to injury, Orr still managed to score 915 points in 657 games, which was a positional record at the time.

Mario Lemieux

Hockey legend Mario Lemieux has four of the league’s top 17 single-season goal totals. Only one other player, Wayne Gretzky, has scored more than 69 goals in a season four times.

After six straight 100-point seasons, Lemieux’s Pittsburgh Penguins career came to an end in 1990-91 due to an injury-shortened season. Despite a cancer diagnosis that cut short the peak of his career, he went on to earn four more seasons with at least 100 points.

Throughout his storied career, the Pittsburgh Penguins great amassed 1,723 points while also acquiring three Hart Trophies, two Stanley Cups, and nine All-Star selections.
